CHEF | fabiola

Hi! I’m Fabiola. Nice to meet you. So you want to know more about me. Are you sure? Well ok then.
I’m your run-of-the-mill foodie; I like to eat food, I like to read about food, I like to talk about food, I like to cook food…
I also happen to be a health nut. I’m an avid health nut by day and cookie monster by night. They balance each other out.
I work at August Restaurant in Beamsville, Ontario; I’m the Sous Chef and Pastry Chef. It’s a fun job, and the access to great food is always a good thing. The health nut side of me brings fruits, veggies and other good snacks to see me through the day at work. The cookie monster comes out when there is something I just can’t resist like anything and everything new my chef makes, a new dessert or a slice of cheesecake that just happened to be too small to serve. Sometimes the only thing that gets me through the day is the thought that I have some cookies in the freezer with my name on them.
Still want to know more about me? Fine…how about some random facts…
Fact 1: I sometimes put baked goods like cookies, or brownies in my freezer to stop myself from eating too many. Funny story….it doesn’t stop me! Have you ever had a frozen brownie?
Fact 2: I wake up at a ridiculously unrealistic time every morning, so that I can go to the gym. So that I can come home. And eat cookies. Lots of cookies. All sorts. Mostly chocolate chip. But I’m not picky.
Fact 3: I pump iron…yes. Tickets to the gun show are available upon request.
Fact 4: I like to eat the crunchy bits off of the top of macaroni and cheese. I do it in secret though. If anyone get’s suspicious… Deny, deny, deny.
Fact 5: I don’t like guys that can’t eat as much as me. I mean really….
Fact 6: I look and sound like I’m 12. I’ve come to terms with that.
Fact 7: My hair is a separate entity. We fight sometimes.
Fact 8: I have an unnatural addiction to natural peanut butter. I have been known to eat terribly large quantities in one sitting.
Fact 9: I’m actually a Torontonian…I moved to the Niagara region from Toronto for school and somehow never left.
Fact 10: I usually have a minimum of 5 pounds of butter in my fridge and a jumbo size bag of prunes in my cupboard at ALL TIMES. Don’t judge….
Want to know more about me? Wow, that’s kinda weird.
In all seriousness, feel free to message me with any further questions you may have!
Who is the person that you would most likely hang out with a try new and amazing beers with? I am just askin
Good question. I actually have a BBF (a Best Beer Friend) who’s sole purpose is just that.
I pride myself in knowing at least a few facts. The prunes threw me off guard, but you’re a chef and thus if you say you need prunes, you need prunes! Miss you!
The prunes are strictly for health purposes….and because they’re delicious and am not ashamed to say so!
Hi Fabiola! It’s me, John Evoy’s wife. I made your Maple Caramel Popcorn over a month ago, and John is still asking for more. I can’t find the recipe, though…do you think you could send it to me? My email address is hevoy@cogeco.ca. Love your blog – I’m going to try those peanut butter gingersnap cookies next.
hi fabi i love your blog…….!
Mom!!! I love YOU!!
Awesome Picture! That looks pretty messy. Glad I didn’t have to clean it up.
Fabi,
Have heard great things about you and have tasted your breads etc. in August Restaurant. Have just emaied Clayton to forward a message to you regarding a Lincoln Chamber of Commerce Cupcake Challenge for charity in September and would like to invite you to participate. Cathy McNiven, Executive Director of the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce.
Hi Cathy,
Sounds great! I’d love to; I shall ask Clayton for details. Thanks for thinking of me, I’m honored.
you are too cute and very creative! amazing> you go girl!
Hi Fab,
Long time reader, first time commenter…love the blog. I just happened to experience a delicious “pecan” pie, but with walnuts, that you happened to make. I was with my wife and a certain musician friend of mine and his lovely girlfriend. Anyway I just thought I’d say that we all thought it was fantastic and that it took a lot to not eat the whole thing.
Too sweet! Just for the record, I wouldn’t have judged you if you had eaten the rest. Been there.
You are the best baker/chef I ever met. I truly only enjoyed eating food that came from you. I thank you for all that you did for me and for all the amazing bread:)
Thanks Natasha, it’s always my pleasure.
I was on the August website looking over the menu in anticipation of an upcoming lunch date with some girlfriends and came upon your blog. Love it – your sense of humor if so great!! The recipes look “amazing” and I can’t wait to try some of them – thanks for sharing.
Wow, thank you very much! Looking forward to having you and your girlfriends in for lunch!
